Commentary on the Toponym:	Kommentar (Talbert): -> stretch to Solvnto Because space is tight, the distance figure XII is placed above the name. Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 398: Panormo (Pd, Dj, irrig Panorino (rel.)), Panurmon (Ra), Panormum (Gu), sonst Panormus (Pt, alii), "territorium Panormitanorum imp. Vespasianus adsignavit militibus veteranis et familiae suae" (l. col.); uralte phönizische Stadt mit trefflichem Landungsplatze, freie Stadt, dann col. seit Augustus, col. Augusta Panormus – Panhormitana (I: CIL X 7279), colonia Panhormitanorum (I: ib. 7286); ep. c. 125, c. 447, 480 sequ. Auffallend ist, daß Panormo als einfache Station ohne Bild ist; aber der Mangel an bedeutenden römischen Altertümern erklärt es einigermaßen. Die Bedeutung von Palermo gehört einer viel früheren Zeit an. Das gleiche gilt von Agrigent, obwohl letzteres großartige Altertümer aufweist; j. Palermo; ohne bedeutende Altertümer. Iss: CIL X 7265-7335. 8051 13. 8053 64. 8316. CIG 5551-5575 cum add. p. 1249. Im It 96/7 Abzweigung von Palermo nach Girgenti: Pirama 24; j. unbekannt, etwa bei Mezzojuso. In Corleone und Vicari sind unbedeutende römische Funde (CIL X 7197. 7199); Petrinae 24; j. südlich von Filaga; Comitianis 4; j. S. Stefano di Bibona, wo ein vielbesuchter Herkulestempel stand (CIL X 2. 7197; Pitinianis 24; j. etwa Aragona; Agrigento 9. Im It haben wir ferner von Palermo nach Marsala eine Binnenland-Strecke mit folgenden Stationen [siehe Miller, Sp. 400]. Datierung (Barrington): Pan(h)ormus – Archaic/Classical/Hellenistic/Roman/Late Antique (Di Stefano 1983, 39-65; 1998; Giustolisi 1988; BTCGI XIII, 205-41) [T.W.] Welser liest hier Panorino. Heute jedoch noch klar als Panormo zu entziffern.
