Commentary on the Toponym:	Kommentar (Talbert): -> stretch to Panormo: The start of this stretch is not marked. Because space is tight, the distance figure XXXVI is placed above the name. Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 400: Segesta, it. (Ra, Pt, Cic, Pl) [verschieden Egestia (Ra - zwischen Mutaca und Caripa, Gu)], Aquis Segestanis sive Pincianis (cf. j. Monte Inici) (It); Emporium Segestanum (Pt), j. Castellamare; territorium Segestanorum (l. col), früher Egesta (Thuc, alii) oder Aegesta (St, Diod, alii); von den Römern erst Segesta genannt, alte griechische Stadt, unter den Römern mit Hafen und Stapelplatz (j. Castell a Mare) und Thermen (Aquae Segestanae: It, St, Diod); j. Überreste auf einem Berge (Monte Varvaro), 1 km westlich von Alcamo bei Calatafimi. Iss: CIL X 7263. CIG 5542 bis 5548 cum add. p. 1249. Berühmter griechischer Tempel vorzüglich erhalten; großartige Ruinen des Theaters. Die Thermen halbwegs zum Hafen s.o. Das Emporium des Pt ist der Hafen j. Castellamare. 13, 14 (It von Aquis Seg.). Es sollten 20 mp sein, es fehlt also wohl eine Station: Eryx mons mit dem berühmten Venustempel auf dem Berge, welcher, wie es scheint nach Iss den Segestanern zugehörte; j. Monte S. Giuliano (751m) mit Iss: X 7253-7260. Datierung (Barrington): (S)Egesta – Archaic/Classical/Hellenistic/Roman (Manni 1981, 222-23; Wilson 1995, 115-18; Camerata-Scovazzo 1996) [T.W:.] Talbert liest hier Segesto. Wahrscheinlicher ist jedoch die Lesung Segesta, wie von Welser, Scheyb und Miller vorgeschlagen. Für letztere Lesung gäbe es antike Quellenbelege (Plin. nat. 31,61).
