Commentary on the Toponym:	Kommentar (Talbert): Only the first and last letters of D[ - ? - ]m are legible; in between there is space for three letters or more. -> stretch to Cabillione -) ItMiller (Map 31) evidently interprets the distance figure as XXII with no stop at the end, even though the lithograph (col. 27) reproduces it accurately as XXI followed by the usual stop. Note that the route linework top left of Aug D[ - ? - ]m does not quite touch the symbol, although it was no doubt intended to. -) River crossing: Fl. Autun. Ersatz für Bibracte als Hauptort der Haedui, wurde A. zu einem regen Romanisierungszentrum. Gezeichnet durch Aufstände im 1.Jh. n.Chr. (Tac. ann. 3,43), war A. bis gegen Ende des 3.Jh. durch hohen Wohlstand ausgezeichnet (vgl. arch. Funde). Trotz des Niedergangs nach der Kapitulation vor Victorinus (269 n.Chr.) bewahrte A. dank seiner Schulen seinen Ruf als kulturelles Zentrum.
