The route linework dips markedly on this stretch, rather than continuing horizontal: was there originally some representation of salt-flats ("salinae") hereabouts, which was later omitted ?

Vaccis, Baccis (Ra). [Nicht Vacca (Sall, Jug), Οὔαγα (Pt), Vaga (Sil)]; j. südlich vom Schott el Hodna; n.a. Khi Djessessia, nördlich vom Schott el Hodna. Von der Mitte des 3. Jahrhunderts an reichten die römischen Besitzungen noch 40 mp südlich vom großen Schott, wie viele Iss und sogar eine Kolonie in Ain ed Sultan, Gara und Saada beweisen. 16.
