1) Macomades minores, südlich von Thenae an der Meeresküste (heute, nach Tissot II 191 = Oglet el Khfifia), bei Ptol. IV 3, 3 (p. 624 Müll.). Geogr. Rav. 350, 4. 151, 7 (?). Guido 520, 7. Plin. V 25 nennt die Stadt ein oppidum liberum, das It. prov. 59 ein municipium. Die Tabula Peutingeriana gibt die Entfernung von Thenae mit 27 mp. an. Der Name M. scheint dei Skylax ausgefallen zu sein. Als νέα πόλις kehrt der Ort wieder im Stadiasm. m. m. § 107 (GGM I 467 mit der Note) und wird von Müller (vgl. Borsari Geogr. etnol. e storica della Tripolitana usw. 130) mit Kasr Unga vermutungsweise gleichgesetzt. Ein praepositus limitis Macomadiensis wird Not. dign. c. 31 genannt; ein Bischof von M. in Not. dign. occ. p. 634. Inschriftlich CIL VIII p. 923 (nr. 10498). [Schwabe.]

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography:
A town of Zeugitana with a harbour (Scylax, p. 47; Stadiasm. § 107 ), the same as the MACOMADES of Pliny (5.3; Μακόμαδα, Ptol. 4.3.11); a “municipium,” as it appears from the Antonine Itinerary ( “Macomades Minores,” Peut. Tab.; Geog. Rav. 3.5); this latter name indicates a Phoenician origin. (Mövers, Phoeniz. Alterth. vol. ii. p. 494.) It has been identified with Kass`r Ounga, on the N. of the Gulf of Hammámét.
