There happens to be a succession of four XVI distance figures here, the furthest right of them seemingly redundant. Conceivably, the second from the left was originally that for the Mvtia stretch (which lacks any figure); ItAnt 26,4-5 records the distance Altieuros-Admedera as 32. However, the original Mvtia figure was perhaps miscopied in such a way that it led to linkage of Altvbvros and Obba immediately before the former name, whereas this branch was originally placed after it, as the isolated figure XVI aslant may attest.

Altuburos, Altuburus (Ra), Altieuros (It), Altiburitanum municipium (I: CIL VIII 1824 - hier gefunden). Bischöfe werden genannt: a. 393 (Altiburitanus), a. 411 (Altiburitanus), a. 484 (Altuburitanus), a. 649 (Altoburitanus); j. Hr. Medeina. Iss: CIL VIII 1822-1836. 16469. 16473-16485. Großartige Überreste: ein Triumphbogen, Theater, Tempel, Aquädukte. Hier Einmündung der großen Militärstraße von Karthago nach Tebessa mit Meilensteinen - s. Strecke 134. 16; die Zahl steht zu weit rechts, gehört aber hierhere (ist hier wohl dopppelt zu lesen); das It hat von Altuburos nach Medera (32).

(pun. ´ltbrš). Einheimische Stadt der Africa proconsularis (weitere Namensformen [5. 1697]), 37 km süd-südöstl. von El-Kef, h. Henchir Medeina. A. hatte starken pun. Einschlag [4. 295-297; 2. 19-24; 3; 6. 60; 1. 17 f., Taf. IV 2]. Dies mag z. T. durch die Lage von A. an der Straße Karthago/Theveste zu erklären sein. Kult des Baal Hamon (ohne den der Tinnit), das Opfer des molk und ein Tofet. 3 Sufeten leiteten die Verwaltung. Unter Hadrian wurde A. municipium (CIL VIII Suppl. 4, 27769, 27775, 27781), unter Severus Alexander oder etwas später colonia. Zahlreiche arch. Denkmäler sind erh., viele lat. Inschr. (CIL VIII 1, 1822-1836; Suppl. 1, 16468-16485; Suppl. 4, 27768-27815).
