Kommentar (RE): https://elexikon.ch/RE/IV,2_1761.png Cuppae, Station (Itin. Ant. 217 Cuppe. Tab. Peut. vico Cuppe. Geogr. Rav. 190, 17 vico Cuppae) und stark besetztes Castell (Not. dign. or. XLI 9 = 19 cuneus equitum Dalmatarum, Cuppis. 25 auxilium Cuppense, Cuppis. 32 praefectus legionis septimae Claudiae, Cuppis; vgl. Cod. Iust. VIII 45, 28 Cuppis. Procop. de aedif. IV 6 p. 287 Κουπούς) an der Donauuferstrasse in Moesia superior, östlich von Viminacium (Kostolac); jetzt wahrscheinlich Golubac (Mommsen CIL III p. 1021, vgl. 1447. Kiepert CIL III tab. II und Formae orbis antiqui XVII), wo Reste eines Castells mit Ziegeln der leg. VII Claudia p. f. gefunden worden sind (F. Kanitz Röm. Stud. in Serbien 24ff. CIL III 1702 verzeichnet auch einen Ziegel COH V). C. scheint nach Osten zu der Ausgangspunkt kleinerer fortificatorischer Anlagen gewesen zu sein (Kanitz a. a. O. 26ff.); sicher ist, dass bei Brnjica ebenfalls an der Donau Ruinen eines Castells constatiert worden sind, in welchen ein Detachement der leg. VII Cl. lag (CIL III 6297 = 8097, 168 n. Chr.). W.
