Maratea. Iss: CIL X 456-458. 16. Datierung (Barrington): Blanda – Hellenistic/Roman/Late Antique (RE 2; BTCGI IV, 81-84; La Torre 1991) RE: 2) Vollständig Blanda Iulia (CIL X 125), Colonie in Lucanien, südöstlich von Buxentum in der Nähe der Küste, Mela II 69. Plin. n. h. III 72 (der sie irrig schon zum Bruttierlande rechnet). Ptol. III 1, 70. Tab. Peut.; Blandas Geogr. Rav. IV 32 p. 264. V 2 p. 332. Im hannibalischen Kriege wurde B. 214 von den Römern eingenommen (Liv. XXIV 20, 5); es bestand als Stadt noch im späten Altertum, wo es zum Sprengel des Bischofs von Acropolis (Agropoli bei Paestum) gehörte (Gregor. Magn. ep. II 43). Die Itinerarien zeigen, dass es in der Nähe des heutigen Maratea gelegen haben muss; Reste will M. Lacava (in d. Ztschr. Arte e Storia, Florenz 1892, 34ff.) auf dem Hügel von Palecastro bei Tortona gefunden haben. Vgl. Mommsen CIL X p. 50.
