Commentary on the Toponym:	Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 359: Leucopetram (Irrig Leucopetra (Bt, Bg, Ve)), Lencopetra (Ra, Gu), Leucopetia (Gu); cf. Leucopetra (It, Pt, Cic, Liv) oder Bruttium Prom. (Serv), ad Leucopetram? (l. col. - an falschem Orte); die Südwestendspitze der Appenninen (St), von den weißen Felsen so genannt; - cui navigantes temporis nostri a discrimine ventorum nomen indiderunt (Galat); j. Pellaro bei der Punta di Pellaro. Hier bricht die Apenninenkette steil gegen das Meer ab. 20. In Melito wurden 2 Meilensteine gefunden mit Entfernung 20 und 21 (a Regio): CIL X 6959. 6960. Datierung (Barrington): Leucopetra – Hellenistic/Roman/Late Antique (RE Λευκόπετρα 2; ItMiller 359) DNP: Leukopetra (Λευκόπετρα, “weißer Felsen”). Vorgebirge an der Adria-Küste südl. von Rhegion (Strab. 5,1,3; 6,1,7), h. Capo dell`Armi bei Motta S. Giovanni. Zusammen mit anderen “weißen Felsen” (Capo Leucata, Phalaron Akron, Leucopetrai Tarentinorum) kennzeichnet er die Seefahrtsroute von Griechenland nach Unteritalien und Sizilien.
