Commentary on the Toponym:	Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 939: Equezeto (Equzeto (Dj), Equeheto (Bt, Bg, Ve)), Equiz. municipium Equizetum (I: CIL VIII 10430 – hier gefunden), colonia Equizetensis (I: ib. 9045 – gefunden in Auzia). Bischöfe werden genannt: a. 411 (episc. Equizetensis), 484 (episc. Equizotensis); j. Lecurbe, n.a. Mansura. Iss: 709-749. –. Es fehlen etwa 25 mp. Datierung (Barrington): Equizeto? – Roman/Late Antique (AAA 15.91) RE: Equizetum VI.1 324 Dessau. Equizetum, Stadt in Mauretania Sitifensis (Tab. Peut., wo Equeheto geschrieben ist), nach dem Meilenstein CIL VIII 10430 in der Nähe des heutigen Bordj Mejana gelegen. Nach diesem Meilenstein war sie um 300 n. Chr. ein römisches Municipium (weniger genau scheint sie in der etwas älteren Inschrift CIL VIII 9045 colonia genannt zu werden). Bischöfe werden im J. 411 und im J. 484 erwähnt (Coll. Carth. I 204, bei Migne L. XI 1339, Mansi Act. concil. IV 150. Not. episc. Sitif. nr. 11, in Halms Victor Vitensis p. 70: Equizotensis). Vgl. CIL VIII p. 751. Gsell Recherches archéologiques en Algérie 284. [Dessau.] DNP: Equizeto Stadt in der Mauretania Sitifensis, südwestl. von Sitifis an einem Straßenknotenpunkt, h. Ouled-Agla bzw. Lecourbe; in der Tab. Peut. 2,1 als Equeheto bezeichnet. Die Stadt war spätestens seit Alexander Severus municipium [1. 567 Nr. 29]. Inschr.: CIL VIII 2, 8810-8825; 9045; 10427-10430; Suppl. 3, 20606; Suppl. 4, 22658,5.
