Commentary on the Toponym:	Kommentar (Talbert): Name is faint and blurred; possibly it ends in "m" rather than "ni". The 1888 photograph shows the symbol to be the Levis` type Aa1, not Ab1 as they classified it. Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 95-96: Segoduni (Man kann Segodum (Dj) oder -duni (Ma) lesen, letzeres jedenfalls richtig), Segodunum (Pt – aber an falscher Stelle), civitas Rutenorum (ng in Auit. I) = Rodingis? (Ra). Bischofssitz vom 5. Jahrhundert ab; j. Rodez in der Landschaft Rouergue. Meilenstein. I: 8885. Iss: 1549 bis 1556. Von Rodez nach Cahors ist die Entfernungsangabe 15 bis Villefranche etwas zu klein, es sollten wenigstens 18 l. sein. Die Namen Carentan und Varaire sind sehr verlockend. Wenn man die beiden Stationen Carantomagus und Varadeto etwas östlicher ansetzen dürfte, würden die Zahlen trefflich stimmen. Abzweigung nach Cesserone, Strecke 31. 15 – es sollte 20 (XX statt XV) heißen? Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 122: Segoduni, Strecke 14; j. Rodez. 30 mp, 50 km in gerader Linie, also wohl Leugen. Datierung (Barrington): Segodunum – Hellenistic/Roman/Late Antique (CAGR 9.99; Villes 133-39) § ‘Etodounon’ (Ptol. 2.7.12) § Civitas Rutenorum (NotGall 12.4) DNP: Segodunum Rutenorum, Hauptort der Ruteni in Aquitania (Ptol. 2,7,21: Σεγόδουνον; Notae Tironianae 87,46: Segundunum oder Secundunum; Tab. Peut. 2,3: Segodum oder Segoduni), h. Rodez am Aveyron. Die Wirtschaft des Umlandes umfaßte Bergwerke und Kunsttöpferei (Zentrum der Produktion von Terra Sigillata bei La Graufesenque im Tal des Tarn, 2 km südl. von Millan).
