Commentary on the Toponym:	Kommentar (Talbert): The letters "AFLAG" are bunched together strangely, although otherwise the spacing is much more ample and consistent. Just possibly a copyist (or even the mapmaker ?) laid out the word carelessly as PAGONIA, and only then realized that "FLA" had to be added between the first "A" and the "G". Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 835: Die Provinznamen sind schon in der Einleitung zu der Diözese VIII Sp. 629, IX Sp. 685 und X Sp. 747 aufgeführt und die in der Ta genannten durch Fettdruck hervorgehoben. Im Pontus sind 4 von 7 Provinzen genannt: Bithnia, Galatia, Paflagonia und Cappadocia. […] Im Gegensatz zu seinen östlichen und westlichen Nachbarn (Bithynien, Pontus, Phrygien, Kappadonkien) war Paphlagonien nur ein Landschaftsname und bildete keine politische Einheit.
