Außerdem die Stadt Curicum (Caes. civ. 3,8,4 ad Curici [so Mommsen; Corici et Coricy codd.] portum; Κούρικον Ptol. 2,16,13) an der Südküste der Insel; von deren Bewohnern, den Curictae (Nebenform Curictes) bezog die Insel ihren Namen (s. ThlL s. v. Curicum Onomasticon, vol. II, 757, 42 - 757, 66).
Auf der TP scheint das Toponym der Insel mit dem der Stadt kontaminiert worden zu sein. Vielleicht eine späte Erscheinung, ähnlich wie der Ausfall des "c" in Curitanae bei Cassiod. var. 7,16,1?

Bei Konst. Porphyr. admin. 29 p. 124, 52 Moravcsik/Jenkins u. ö. findet sich schon der Name Βέκλα.

Die große dalmatinische Insel Krk mit zwei Städten: Curictae/Curicum (Κούρικον Ptol. 2,16,13) beim heutigen Ort Krk und Fertinates (Plin. nat. 3,139; Φουλφίνιον Ptol. 2,16,13.) beim heutigen Omisalj. Im Bürgerkrieg zwischen den Truppen des Pompeius und Caesar umkämpft (Caes. civ. 3,10,5), seit Augustus zu Illyricum gehörig, erhielt von Claudius das ius Italicum (Plin. nat. 3,139, tribus Claudia, s. Strauch, DNP). Aus frühchristlicher Zeit bedeutende Architektur- und Skulpturenfunde (dazu Jarak 2013). Zu spätantiken Festungsanlagen s. Brusić 1989.
