Tacape col.´, Tacapas colonia (It, Ra), Tacape (I: CIL VIII 10 022 – Meilenstein gefunden zwischen Tacape und Capsa), Tacapis (Ra), Tacapes (I: CIL VIII 10 018 bis 10 023 – Meilensteine gefunden zwischen Tacape und Capsa), Tacape (Pl), Tacapa (4 Iss: CIL VIII – hier gefunden, eine I auf Meilenstein – gefunden zwischen Tacape und Capsa), Τακάπα (Proc), Τακάπη (Pt), in Tunis nicht weit von der Mündung des Triton, am innersten Winkel der Kleinen Syrte, welches früher zu Byzacium gehörte, später aber als römische Kolonie der Tripolitana als westlichste Stadt beigefügt wurde; sie hatte einen schlechten Hafen; in der Nähe lagen heiße Quellen, Aquae Tacapitanae (j. el Hammam); Bischöfe werden erwähnt a. 411, 484, 525;
j. Gabes; die alte Stadt in Djara el Kbira und Djara es Grira. Iss: CIL VIII 39-41. 43. 11 054-11 056.

(Τακάπη, lat. Tacape). Stadt an der Kleinen Syrte, evtl. phöniz. oder punische Gründung, h. Gabès/Tunesien. Punische Reste sind spärlich [1. 1261]. T., ein ‘sehr großer Handelsplatz’ (Strab. 17,3,17), lag ‘mitten in der Wüste’ (Plin. nat. 18,188). Zur Zeit des Augustus war T. civitas (Plin. nat. 5,25; 18,188), später colonia (Tab. Peut. 6,5; Itin. Anton. 59,6). Weitere Belege: Plin. nat. 16,115 (?); Ptol. 4,3,11; Stadiasmus maris magni 106 f.; Itin. Anton. 48,9 f.; 50,4; 73,5; 74,1; 77,4; 78,3; 518,3; Cod.
