Erste überlieferte literarische Erwähnung beim Geographen von Ravenna bzw. seiner spätantiken Quelle.

PK:
Miller spricht davon, dass hier das von Ptolemaios erwähnte Foro Popilii (3,1,68) gemeint sei und von diesem fälschlicherweise zu Campanien gerechnet werde. Stückelberger verortet das Foro Popilii jedoch beim heutigen Carinola, siehe auch BAtlas 44 E3. Dieses findet sich jedoch nicht auf der TP.

[PK: es fehlt eine Distanzfigur und der Strich nach Cosilianum. Talbert meint zwar, es wäre die Verbindung Foro popili - Vico mendicoleo eingezeichnet (siehe http://www.atlantides.org/tprev/prm/TPPlace1392.html), das kann aber laut Barrington Atlas nicht stimmen].

Kommentar (Talbert):
Notable confusion has occurred here (caused, or made worse for copyists, by the need to straddle adjoining parchments); what there is of the route linework may not be drawn reliably. From BAtlas 45 I infer that the mapmaker made the Foro popili stretch proceed in two directions, moving in one to Cos[..]ianvm (distance figure XVI) and in the other to Vico mendicoleo (no distance figure preserved). On this view, the direct linkage between Cos[..]ianvm and Vico mendicoleo implied by the map is to be regarded as a copyist`s slip.

Miller, Itineraria, Sp. 368:
Foro popili, Foro Populi (Ra), Forum Populi (Gu, Gromat), Forum Poplii (Pt - zu Campanien gerechnet, Dion H), am Tanager und der Via Popilia; j. Polla; merkwürdig durch das an der Wand einer Wirtschaft noch vorhandene Steinmonument des Prätors Popilius, das die Entfernung einiger Orte von Capua bis Regium angibt: CIL I 551. Iss: X 373. 374. 6950. I. R. N. 342. 16 - es sollte 10 heißen; bis Muranum 74 (lapis Pollae). Die Zeichnung der Ta ist hier sehr verwirrt.

3) An der von Capua nach Regium offenbar von dem Consul des J. 132 P. Popilius Laenas erbauten Straße von diesem gegründet, lag im Tal des Tanagro wahrscheinlich an Stelle des heutigen Polla (dort ist die Bauinschrift der Straße und des Forums gefunden, CIL X 6950), oberhalb der Stelle, wo der Fluß für eine Strecke verschwindet. Es gehörte wohl zum Stadtgebiet von Atina, das jene Flußstelle noch umfasste, Plin. II 225. Erwähnt ist F. P. auf der Tab. Peut. Geogr. Rav. IV 32. 34 (Guido 34). Vgl.
