Namensformen:
- Ἔλαιος Menipp peripl. 8 p. 152 Diller Ἀπὸ Δίας πόλεως εἰς Ἔλαιον ποταμὸν καὶ ἐμπόριον στάδ ϟʹ. Ἀπὸ Ἐλαίου ποταμοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν Κάλητα ποταμὸν καὶ ἐμπόριον στάδιοι ρκʹ;
Arr. peripl. Anonym. peripl. Pont.
5,1,7 (laut Ruge, RE 2226), allerdings von Ptol. westl. von Diospolis angesetzt (s. TIB 193).

http://www.atlantides.org/tprev/prm/TPPlace3448.html.

TIB 193; BAtlas 86 B2).

Kommentar (Talbert):
Ideally, the placements in this instance should have matched those of the previous (Hyppivm Fl.) route stretch, where there was the clear opportunity for the map´s users to infer that the river´s name was that of the stretch which crossed it. In the present case, however, for whatever reason, the chicane which could have been delayed until after the river crossing was in fact made before it. As a result, the river crosses the start of the stretch named Lygvm Fl. - which unwary users could thus infer to be this river´s name rather than Bylevm.
